Gilbert Pritchett

Gilbert Pritchett, 95, formerly of Carbondale and DuQuoin, died Tuesday evening, July 8, 2003, at Eden Springs Nursing Home in Crawfordville, Florida.

Mr. Pritchett was born August 2, 1907 in DuQuoin to Nicholas L. and Ada (Combs) Pritchett. He married Viola Lorena Reminger on January 2, 1928 in DuQuoin. He had worked as a Linotype Operator and Printer for both the DuQuoin Evening Call and the Carbondale Herald. He was a member of the Communication Workers of America.

Gilbert is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Darla Pritchett of Crawfordville, Florida, grandchildren David Pritchett of Murphysboro, Fran Thompson and Bill Waddington of Clinton, Illinois, Rick Pritchett of Opelika, Alabama, Tim Pritchett of Shell Point, Florida, Kerry Pritchett of Oakland Park, Florida, and Lori Chase of Blue Hill, Maine, 12 great-grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife on March 27, 1991, and one daughter, Joyce Waddington in 1982, and a grandchild.

Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in DuQuoin with Tom Steed officiating. Visitation was private. Huffman-Harker Funeral Home in Carbondale was in charge of the arrangements.
